Both Catrina Allen and Chris Dickerson fell just short of winning the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship to end the touring season, but they were back on the tournament scene last weekend, each picking up a win at the 2020 Myrtle Beach Open.
For Allen, it was her fifth A-Tier win of the season and sixth overall, as she continues her season-long reign of podium finishes. She hasn't finished outside of sixth and has found the top-3 16 times in 19 events this year.
In her trip to South Carolina, she opened up with a two stroke lead to begin the event as the only player in her field to finish under par. She tied for the hot score in round two and wrapped up a four stroke wire-to-wire win after round three with a 5-over 185 weekend total. Allen will continue on with another A-Tier event this weekend in Oklahoma.
Dickerson has been no stranger to the top of the leaderboard himself, posting his 14th win of the year, four of them coming at A-Tiers or better. Dickerson's journey to the win was a bit different, as he started on the chase card, two strokes back of the lead after day one.
His second round hot score was knotted with three others and bumped him up into a tie for first. He didn't look back from there, putting together his best round of the weekend on the final day. The 12-under effort was again the hot round, garnering a 1071 rating. He torched the back nine with seven birdies in a row from Hole 11 to Hole 17. It was good enough for a three stroke win with a 29-under 151 total. Dickerson will stay in South Carolina for more A-Tier action this weekend, as well.
