Article by Idris Garcia
The Core Team put its talent on display last weekend with four members taking home wins—two of which came in A-Tiers.
Chris Dickerson was among the A-Tier winners, adding another impressive showing to a remarkable season. Dickerson trekked to Fairmont, W.V. to the Seth Burton Memorial and ran away with it from the start to collect his 25th win of the year.
His 1046-rated first round opened up a five stroke lead, which turned into a 17 stroke margin by the time it was all said and done. He added a 1059-rated third round ahead of the final nine and finished with a 27-under par 194.
Matt Orum got his third A-Tier win of the season at the Kentucky State Disc Golf Championships in Bowling Green. Orum averaged 1049-rated golf for the three rounds before the final nine and shot a 45-under par 162 total. Orum had the hot round in all three of those rounds to win by five.
Cale Leiviska staked his claim as Minnesota royalty, taking the King of the North title. Leiviska won the event in Biwabik with a 19-under par 119. Daniel Polk came in second, three throws behind Leiviska and Ben Kroll finished in a tie for third with a 14-under par 124. Mitch Privette’s 13-under par 125 put him in fifth, as Prodigy claimed four of the top five spots.
Cameron Colglazier added a win at the 2018 Big Rip Classic in Lumberton, Miss. He totaled an 18-under par 98 over two rounds, highlighted by a 1050-rated second round to push his winning margin out to five. Colglazier posted the low score for both rounds. Logan Weiss tossed a 10-under par 106 to finish fifth.
Cooper Legee added an A-Tier win to his resume at the 2018 Hollows Fall Classic. Legee shot a 9-under par 156 over three rounds in Manchester, N.H., securing the four stroke win with the hot round to finish the event.
Manabu Kajiyama claimed a national title Sept. 16-17 at The 30th National Championship in Minamiuonuma, Niigata, Japan. Yutaro Sakai came in fourth.
Delany Thomas got an unsanctioned win at the Mollywood invitational. Nick Snelling and his partner added a doubles win at the Matzen Lake Doubles after winning a three-hole playoff.
