WEEKEND ROUNDUP: DICKERSON, HASTINGS, LEE CONTINUE WINNING WAYS
Article by Idris Garcia
Dan Hastings is on a late season tear. The North Carolina pro has now won three tournaments in a row and seven of his last nine. His latest win came at the 17th Annual Fall Disc Golf Classic in Jacksonville, N.C., for his second A-Tier win of the year.
Hastings fired off a 40-under par 190 over four rounds. He was tied for the lead heading into the final round and took it by one. Lance Brown finished 10th.
Chris Dickerson was also in North Carolina last weekend to collect his 28th win of the year at the Annual Blind Hog Thanksgiving Throwdown in Waynesville. His 27-under 93 in two rounds topped the field by five.
Kentucky native Sam Lee has been no stranger to the podium himself, taking his 18th win of the year in Louisville at the Pumpkin Bowl.
Lee totaled a 24-under 100 over two rounds. His 1033-rated second round overcame a two stroke deficit and put him in a three-way tie for first. He birdied eight out of the last 10 holes to force the playoff and won it on the first extra hole.
Dutch Napier finished in fourth with a 21-under 103. Bryton Napier won the Recreational Division with a 9-under 111. Bryton grabbed a one stroke lead in the first round and held on to win by the same margin.
The top of the heap at The Battle at Boomtown in Canton, Ga., was crowded with Prodigy players, who claimed four top-5 spots and five top-10 spots.
Leading the way was Ezra Robinson. He tossed a 17-under 121 in the two round event to win by six. The young Georgian averaged nearly 36 points above his rating and had the low score for both rounds.
Dylan Holt and Ezra’s brother Isaac Robinson tied for third with matching 8-under par 130s, with Holt matching the hot score in round two. Austin Lytle was a stroke behind the pair in fifth and Matt Versola tied for ninth.
Ben Page came back to win the 44th Annual Alabama State Flying Disc Championships in Madison, Ala. Page fought back from down two strokes to win by two. He finished with an 18-under 98.
It was his second win in a row and 10th on the year. He averaged 24 points above his rating to take it.
