Weekend Roundup: Orum, Leiviska Each Pick Up Third Win

Matt Orum and Cale Leiviska each won their third event of the season over the weekend. Orum scored his in Memphis, Tenn., at the 37th Annual Dogwood Classic.

Orum topped out at a 1053-rated second round and had the best score in two of the three rounds. He tossed a 23-under par 148 total to win by four strokes.

Jacob Henson posted a strong second place showing behind Orum after jumping out in front after round one. He averaged 22 points above his rating on the way to a 19-under 152 total. Logan Weiss landed on the podium in third and Vann Moss finished in a tie for fifth.

Leiviska pulled double duty in Saint Paul, Minn., at Earth Day at Bethel University. Leiviska ran the event and managed to come out on top with a five stroke win. He shot a 7-under 101 over two rounds. Daniel Polk finished in a tie for second.

On the amateur side, Troy Pendzimas finished in seventh in Amateur Masters 40+ while Luke Masucci got a second place finish in Juniors.

Nick Rowton scored back to back flex start wins at Low Putts Saturday Showdowns Midland and Low Putts Saturday Showdowns Odessa. Both were in Texas, and both came with Texas-sized hot rounds.

Rowton shot a 1093-rated round for a 12 stroke win Saturday in Midland, and then shot a 1061-rated round in Sunday’s eight stroke win in Odessa.

Matt Jackson charged back to win Madness at Mountain Crest Part 2 in Las Vegas, Nev. Jackson was in seventh, four strokes off the lead after the first round before launching a 1071-rated effort to leap up the leaderboard. His 15-under 97 total took the win by three.

Like Leiviska, Jerimie Gates pulled double duty. He ran the Live Oak Classic in Stockton, Ala., and won it, too. He tossed a 9-under 99 for the two stroke win. Mike Brown added an 11 stroke win in Pro Masters 40+. His 1066-rated opening round accounted for 10 strokes as he totaled a 20-under 88.

Bobby Jones took the Battle at the Lake in Rochester, N.Y., to secure his fourth win of the season. He tossed an 8-under 112 over two rounds, and came back from two strokes down to win by the same margin.

Jon McCain won Advanced at the Big Hill Open 2019 in Cherryvale, Kan. He played consistently, shooting the same score both rounds, which was the hot score in both rounds to finish with a 6-under 116.

In unsanctioned action, Michael Gibney won the 2019 Blue Angel Spring Classic and John Biscoe captained the winning team at the West Virginia Team Invitational.
