Oregon has been kind to Catrina Allen throughout her career, and the magic continued at this year’s Beaver State Fling, as four rounds at Milo McIver were not enough to settle the Open Women’s division.

Allen pushed the tournament into a playoff with a 993-rated final round effort, which included taking three strokes in the last three holes to vault herself into a first place tie with a 6-over par 250. She completed the comeback bid on the first hole of the playoff, sinking the putt on the same basket that sealed her playoff win in 2016’s edition of the National Tour event.

Vanessa Van Dyken joined Allen on the lead card and continues to post top finishes after dealing with injuries early in the season. She tossed two rounds rated 980 and above on her way to a 16-over par 260 total and a fourth place tie.

On the Open Men’s side, Paul Ulibarri made use of a week off to prepare and jumped from the chase card into second place with a 29-under par 215. Ulibarri skipped the San Fransisco Open, instead opting to focus on field work, and it paid off.

Seppo Paju had a nice finish of his own. His 25-under par 219, included a 1066-rated round three, put him in 10th place.

Jacob Henson, who started as Prodigy Protégé, has worked his way onto our Tournament Team and has now hit a milestone at the Kansas City Wide Open in Kansas City, Mo., winning his first A-Tier event. Henson shone throughout the event as none of the 987-rated pro’s rounds were rated below 1000, and two of them topped the 1050 mark.

He finished atop the leaderboard by seven with a 33-under par 212 total over four rounds. He also won the KCWO Thursday Flex 1 Rounder before the event, perhaps a sign of good things to come.

Young guns Gannon Buhr and Noah Higgins made their mark on the Advanced Division with a pair of wins. Buhr took down Disc Golf Palooza XI in Marshaltown, Iowa, while Higgins won Big Bear XX in Canmore, Alberta, Canada.

Buhr totaled an 11-under par 101 and turned in the top score in round one before holding off a second round charge for the one stroke win. Higgins bounced back from a first round deficit to take a four stroke victory. He totaled a 3-over par 171 over three rounds.

Daniel Polk added a win at the Twin Cities Championships in Hastings, Minn., shooting a 28-under par 126. Polk started hot with a 1032-rated opening round. After another round and a final nine, he finished four throws ahead of second.

Jeremie Gates picked up his first win of the season at the Alpha Omega Series. Event 3 in Mobile, Ala., with a 13-under par 95. He shot the hot score in both rounds to push his winning margin out to seven.

Jeremy Farnsworth joined his teammates atop the podium with a win at The 9th Annual Sweet Sugar Bottom Open in North Liberty/Solon, Iowa. Farnsworth was down by one throw after the first round, but flipped the script in round two to win by one.

Bobby Jones’ fifth win of the year came in Pro Masters 50+ at the Long Island Open 2018. Jones took down the Long Island, N.Y., event with a 7-under par 133 total in two rounds. He fended off a second round comeback with a 55-foot putt between trees on hole 17 to finish a throw ahead.

Vinnie Miller took his talents to Memphis, Tenn., and claimed a win at the Bud Hill Masters. Miller overcame a five stroke deficit to force a three-way playoff. He drained a 35-foot death putt for the win in Grandmasters at the Southern Nationals event.

Ezra Robinson did charity work while he cruised to a win at The Mozeathon, a fundraiser event in Stockbridge, Ga. Robinson was tied for the lead after round one but his 1029-rated second round led to an 11 stroke cushion. He shot a 27-under par 153.
