Catrina Allen has taken a commanding lead in the National Tour points standings, stretching her lead out to 30 points after a win at the Delaware Disc Golf Challenge. Allen’s triumph in Newark marks her third NT win of the year.
She took the lead in round one, thanks in part to a perfect putting day inside Circle 1x, and never looked back. She took a share of the hot round in round two and then stayed ahead of her closest competitor in round three to win in wire-to-wire fashion.
Allen was again her clinical self in reaching the green, leading in parked shots, circle 1 in regulation and circle 2 in regulation while finishing second in fairway hits. She totaled a 5-under par 202.
Väinö Mäkelä continued his impressive showing stateside, finishing in a tie for ninth with an 11-under 196. The top-10 showing at NT included a lead card appearance and comes after a top-20 showing at the World Championships. Mäkelä leapt his way onto the final round lead card with a 1053-rated 9-under 60 in round two. He carded only one bogey during the round and it was the best score anyone posted over the weekend.
Nick Rowton claimed a state title at the 31st New Mexico State Disc Golf Championships in Ruidoso. Rowton took a three stroke lead in round one and totaled a 20-under 142 over two rounds to take home the win – his sixth of the year.
Tanner Girouard also collected a two stroke win at the 1st Annual Huck Harvey in Kingwood, Texas. He posted the hot round in the second round to come back from a one stroke deficit and claim the top spot. He tossed a 20-under 108.
Rick Steehler got his first win of the year at the current longest running disc golf event. Steehler won the 46th Rochester Flying Disc Open in his native New York with a 10-under 152. He was up by three after the first round and held off hard-charging teammate Sam Castiglione for the win. Bobby Jones added a win in Pro Masters 50+ with a 4-under 158.
Daniel Polk kept his hot streak alive at the Lake Superior Open in Wisconsin. Polk shot a 14-under 157 over three rounds to find himself in a first place tie in Pro Masters 40+ and won the playoff. Polk now has six wins in a row, 11 on the year across two divisions and five A-Tier wins in six events. Cale Leiviska had a close second place finish in Open.
Donny Ferguson won in West Bend, Wisc. At the Sandy Knoll Flex Start for his fourth win of the year.
