Dickerson, Jones Narrowly Miss DGLO Title in Wild Finish as Allen, Young Tie for 6th in FPO

For the second year in a row, Discraft's Great Lakes Open was decided on the 18th green, and like the 2019 installment, Kevin Jones found himself squarely in that mix. This year, however, more players, including teammate Chris Dickerson, complicated the issue in another thrilling finish on the Disc Golf Pro Tour that put Dickerson in a tie for second and Jones in fourth. In Open Women, both Catrina Allen and Heather Young were on the final round lead card and finished tied for sixth.

Dickerson -- playing on the chase card -- torched the famed Toboggan course in Milford, Mich., to the tune of an unblemished 13-under par. It was the hot round of the day and matched the best score of the entire tournament. Dickerson raced to the finish with six straight birdies before stepping up on hole 18's tee.

He stared down the same hole that had been his only bogey of the tournament thus far and put down another roller as he had the day before. This time, it curled along the tricky, sloped fairway and spun out at circle's edge on the plateaued green. He made good on the put to secure a 32-under total for the weekend, and now the lead card was left to chase him.

Among those making a bid at the new clubhouse leader was Jones, who had solidified his place among the tournament's leaders with two double digit rounds to start the tournament. He again asserted himself during the front nine of the final round, posting seven birdies. The course's midsection proved tricky, and he was found himself down two strokes headed into hole 14.

Jones then popped off three straight birdies to pull himself back into a tie with card leader Eagle McMahon and within striking distance of Dickerson's mark. McMahon then took a one back on Jones headed into 18. Jones stepped up to an outside the circle birdie look as he had the year before, but this time it splashed out left in heartbreaking fashion, leaving the list of possible winners at three with Dickerson, McMahon and Ricky Wysocki. McMahon erased all possibilities with his outside the circle conversion to win by one over Dickerson and Wysocki.

In Open Women, Catrina Allen used two consecutive 3-under par rounds to maintain her place on the lead card throughout the weekend. She deftly navigated the fairways, leading the field in Fairway Hits for the tournament. She also finished second in Parked, Circle 1 in regulation and Circle 2 in regulation. Allen also kept her scorecard free of any out of bounds strokes in the solid finish.

Young used the putter to make her way toward the top of the leaderboard, tying for third from Circle 1x and sixth from Circle 2. She also managed to stay out of OB and also scrambled at the fourth best rate. She vaulted herself into the final round spotlight with a 4-under par in the second round.
