Growing up playing every sport possible, it wasn't until after she graduated from George Washington University earning a double major in biology and biological anthropology that Sarah Hokom discovered disc golf. As a high school teacher, she began meeting friends after work, frequently playing recreational rounds and soon after joining a weekly doubles league. Sarah began participating in PDGA events the following spring and was playing in the professional ranks by summer. After touring during the summer of 2008, Sarah returned to her teaching position and her own postgraduate education. She earned her master's in education, but soon decided it was time to chase a different kind of career. Following the 2010 school year, Sarah resigned her teaching position and began touring full-time. That summer, she won her first A-Tier, the Aspen Sports Treebash Open, followed by with many more subsequent wins. Currently, she continues her off-season training in Lakeport, CA at Highland Springs.
According to Sarah, the strongest part of her game is her "sidearm, overall accuracy, putting, and mental game." Her most important discs are stable drivers and midranges, and under-stable putters.
